Have you ever signed a public address for animals' rights? - "You're not welcome to our company doing business with food industry".

Some pictures of you having Saturday Night Fever with your friends? - "Do you do that also on Tuesdays?". Etc.

One way of getting away of the stupid things you have done is to change your family name, for instance getting married - but if you are having previous work history, your former family name can be traced.

No-one can stop us doing stupid things when we are young. It is called growining and learning.
But what really bothers me is that I cannot remove words I have once written to Internet.

And you cannot.

They might surprise you, when you get older.

#8 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Books, comics and movies are parallel universe (the 30th of March, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

Have you ever thought, what heroes and losers in books, comics and movies read and dream about?

I have read quite a lot and I've seen some movies, but this has not been explained and I will reveal this secret now.

They read and dream about us: about our every day life. How hard it is for us, and how we handle our lifes and carry on. We all are heroes for them!

Books, comics and movies are parallel universe.

As long as they think about is, we will exist.

Some day they will stop this, and we will all disappear.

Some creatures you might run into at easter:

Easter Chicken.

Easter Bunny.

Easter Egg.

Easter Dragon - rarely seen.

#14 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Jimmy Maltese and Corto Jazz (the 2nd of March, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

In the 1970's Finnish comic book "Nonstop" started to publish Corto Maltese.

Me and my friend even wrote a letter to editing office asking them to stop this and publish more Lucky Luke, but Heikki Kaukoranta and Soile Kaukoranta didn't listen to us.

In the 1980's Corto started to bother me in my daydreams. I read one of his adventures, then I read them all, even the ones I didn't read before. I didn't read Lucky Luke anymore. Corto built me a bridge from childhood to younghood.

I went to see Corto Maltese play on Q-Teatteri yesterday. It was really great to see your hero to become flesh and blood on stage. Small, intimate and excellent!

Corto disappeared in Spanish civil was 1936-1939. Corto is a romantic character, so Hugo Pratt could not let him live in "modern days". Still I think that he died too young.

Don't we all do that in every night of our lifes?

#10 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Internet is the supermassive black hole (the 13th of April, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

Everything you do or publish can be found in Internet for everyone, and it cannot be removed. This means that any text, pictures, videos, samples - even printed media scanned - can be leaked. I have personally seen this happen.

I posted to Internet News discussion groups some opinions in the 1980's, which have changed or which I'd like to share only with my closest friends nowadays in real-life discussions.

These are all now public readable for anyone, and I cannot remove these.

Seach engine companies like Google and Social Media companies like Facebook get their incomes by selling targeted advertisement to different customers.

The more they know about you the better business it is for them!

Next time you are to publish anything in any media, consider the content twice - and say good bye to it.

You don't own it anymore, but everybody else does.

#9 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: sales@ vs. support@ (the 6th of April, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

Here is a salesman sales@, who meets the customer, sends the offer, makes the contract, makes sure that the project is done and sends the bill.

He wakes up at six o'clock every morning, starts working at eight and stops around 4-5 p.m.

Here is a coder support@, who doesn't meet the customer, but he codes the project and is supposed to give support to it, because he knows how it works.

He wakes up at noon, starts working at 3-4 p.m. and stops around 1-2 a.m.

Because the customer@ has only met the sales@, and support@ reads their e-mail only on evenings, the customer@ calls at sales@ for support, and sales@ tries to help the customer@.

The whole society would work better, if the customer@ and the sales@ would sleep a few hours more and if the support@ could wake up a few hours earlier.

Then it would be possible to use sales@ for selling and support@ for supporting, and everybody would be happy.

#7 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Lotto winning is government conspiracy (the 23th of March, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

In the first season of the TV-series "Lost" year 2004 character Hurley wins 114 million dollars with "cursed" numbers.

Bulgarian lotto machine gives exactly the same numbers on 6th and on 10th of September 2009, four of them are the same as in "Lost".

Almost 25.000 people use Hurley's row in American Mega Millions Lotto on 6th of January 2011. They get four right and earn 150 dollars each.

Lotto is the government conspiracy, which gives is hope when it's almost gone to wake up every morning to earn money to someone else.

Lotto drawing is actually computer animated to make sure that no-one gets jackpot.

Stop lottery now!

#6 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: FidoNet messaging vs. Internet e-mail (the 16th of March, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

I was on trip from Monday noon to Tuesday morning.

My customer called me Tuesday 10 a.m. and she asked me if I had read her e-mail she had sent to me on Monday afternoon.

When I started to work with PCs on the 1980's, we had world wide net of private computers called FidoNet. It was sort of Internet with Social Media, but anybody having a PC, a modem and a normal voice phoneline could join. There were thousands of private PCs all around the world changing messages.

The system was built to, that:
  • people phoned to node, hub or host during day time or on evening
  • nodes phoned to hubs, which phoned to hosts, which phoned to each other and handled international calls.
This was done twice a night, which ment that every message was delivered in every part of the world within one day!

We should get rid on Internet and change back to FidoNet. In that case if my customer writes me an e-mail on Monday afternoon, whe will know that I will get it on Tuesday and I will have time for the whole day to reply on it, and she will get my answer on Wednesdat.

This will help us to get rid of the unneccessary panic and plan things better.

x: Honey, please close the door, it's getting warmer here, and I want to avoid it.

#3 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Reply vs. Reply all (the 18th of February, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

Group e-mails are the world's most best kept secrets. You send an important e-mail to several people working in the same project and Bang! The first one replies only to you.

What is this? Is the first replier in love with you, and wanted to ask you out, but dared not to?

Should you read between the lines?

Company's internal secters?

Encrypted content in some comma?

Government conspirary?

Truth of Area 51?

Of J.F.K. and Marilyn?

This is because people planning e-mail software graphical interface wants this:

When it should look like this:

Now what do you do?
  • send you "reply-reply to all" of the original receivers and insult the "reply"-replier?
  • send you "reply" to this "reply"-replier and keep all the original receivers in dark?
We have to wait until mail client software learns to program itself. This takes 100 years, so our grand-grand children will be living in world without secrets.

#2 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Social Media and friend requests (the 11th of February, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

Social Media like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn allow you to set up the visibility of most of the information you publish of yourself, but not all.

It is not wise to show most of your personal information to everyone, and you should allow only the people you accept to your personal contacts to see more.

I tried to divide people in two different groups:
  • personal "friends" are handled through Facebook
  • people I do ot have done business with are handled through LinkedIn.
This worked well in the beginning, but because my "friends" and "business contacs" are also cross-contacted by themselves, I receive more and more contact reuqests to "wrong" systems, where I want to have a different role.

If I do not accept these contacts and add them to "wrong" system, they might not want to be my "friends" or "business contacts" anymore in the real life.

Of course there are filters in these systems, but they do not always work. The only solution is to publish neutral information to both systems, so no-one gets upset.

This means that I cannot tell my political or religious opinions or discuss of other interesting "I hate" sort of topics in Social Medias.

So Social Medias make the world more positive, as it actually is!

#1 Jimmy J. Jazz - Facecömic: Garf (the 5th of February, 2011)

(Click the picture to enlarge it and click Esc button on your keyboard to return.)

My friend Garf died about one year ago. I knew him from old Social Networks like Vaxi and Clinet since 1980's. He was also running his own bulletin board system from his home using a PC, modem and phone line, as I did.

Garf was really nice and friendly. He loved good food. He was the first of our own, who died. Now there are only 299 of us original Finnish hackers. Who will be next?

We will gather together this evening to remember him, and this is ment to be annual meeting.

Only six are attending. Shouldn't we try to meet each others more as long as we are still alive?

What really bothers me is that Garf's Social Media accounts are still alive, and they keep asking me if I would like to reconnect to him. So if you like to live forever, do it on the Internet!
